Okay, so people are now talking about the issue of slavery. People say that slavery is bad and terrible, no doubt about that. But in all honesty.....It's getting so stinking annoying that people have been saying that the Bible approves of slavery. That is such a hoax.

The Bible never once said that slavery is okay. In fact, here is quick example for you of why it never said that its okay:

The people of Israel were enslaved by the Egyptians when a new Pharaoh (who doesn't know a huts about Joseph) arose and took power, and forced the people of Israel to work. On top of that, he even passed a law that all male babies should die. But one day, God called Moses from Mount Horeb via the Burning Bush to get the people of Israel out of Egypt.

And whoever says that God condones slavery, that is a utter lie.

And on top of that Exodus 21:16 says "And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death." In God's eyes, slavery and kidnapping are no different. They are both wrong before Him.

But, some of you may be wondering "what does the New Testament say about that?" Well, during that time, the Romans were big on slavery alright, but before God, its not acceptable. Even Paul the Apostle never liked it one bit. 1 Corinthians 7:21-23 says "Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men."

So in this passage, Paul the Apostle actually encourages slaves to seek freedom if possible, so that every man would know the real freedom that is in Christ Jesus.

Speaking of which, real freedom comes from God my friends. As the passage highlighted says that we "are bought with a price;" and that we should not be servants of men (verse 23). What does that mean? That means that God sent His one and Only Son Jesus Christ so that we can be set free from the bondage of sin, and live for Him.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18)

Sin is not only what separate man away from God and drag them to Hell, it is also what keeps the souls captive. The devil who is a liar and accuser of brethren uses any device to hinder people from coming to repentance and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (2 Corinthians 4:4).

And as Christians, we are called to serve God in holiness and righteousness, in Spirit and in Truth.

All in all, slavery is bad, so neither God or His Word condones it. And in case you didn't know, Christians were actually the first to speak out against slavery. People like Abraham Lincoln (USA) and William Wilberforce (UK) who happen to be Christians actually helped abolish slavery. And those of you who still think that Christian approve slavery, or still think that the Word of God approves it, better think twice.
